Uncanny X-Men…CANCELED!
Thursday, June 9th, 2011
Marvel told the Associated Press that the long-running “Uncanny X-Men” title will end this October at issue no. 544.
“Uncanny X-Men” writer Kieron Gillen told the AP that conflicts in Schism cause the ending of the series.
“The X-Men has always been a book with ideology and ideas at its heart, and to be fair to them – to best present them – you have to be entirely true,” Gillen said in the AP article. “And if the story we’re telling demands that you end the `Uncanny X-Men,’ you end the `Uncanny X-Men.’ No, it’s not taken lightly – but it’s taken if it’s necessary to do it.”
As for Emma Frost, she made her debut January 1980 (technically, November 1979 because of the two months publishing vs sales date difference) in “Uncanny X-Men” no. 129 and has appeared in 91 issues of the series so far.
