Is Emma Frost getting nerfed in the power department?

    • Niklas B

Due to the Herc appearance (from last week btw)?

Depends. Obviously the story couldn’t allow her to take him down on the spot, so some excuse as to why not had to be invented. Seems here as if Herc is possessed, which should work out nicely I guess.

(That Herc issue is available from the Marvel App on iPad as well)

I haven’t read any comics for awhile (my extended vacation also means being away from any LCS) , and I don’t recall her having any significant tp feats for some time now. I do wonder if she has the strength to take out an Asgardian (Olympian, whatever) when said Asgadian didn’t have a case of hive mind.

        • Niklas B

Hm, recent feats. Not much comes to mind. Maybe mentally rewriting the
memory of a Fury back in the Xenogenesis mini by Ellis and Andrews.

A few implied feats such as her being one of the few powerful telepaths
imprisoned in Age of X. Called a powerful telepath by Kruun in the
recent Breakworld arc, but tripped up by her arrogance.

Let’s see if she manage to get the better of Wonder Man in the upcoming issue of Children’s Crusade. Or falls short again.

I guess there should be a few good ones in Gillen’s upcoming run with
the new “super-team” in the renumbered Uncanny. If not, we can probably
          conclude she has been “nerfed”.

          • Shark

Yeah, the Fury mindfuck was the last awesome feat I recall her doing (aside from making Quire poop).

On a related note, I do find it interesting that telepaths “level up” somehow. I wonder if it’s over time or if they get stronger beating other telepaths ala Highlander.

What I just find annoying is how she easily gives up her tp and reverts to diamond form whenever she encounters resistance. I love her diamond form but it just makes writing seem lazier to me.

          • Niklas B

That seems to be the fate of TP in general and especially in teams (not that I know of any telepaths who are solo heroes).

If it’s not neutered it’s too much of a plot-device/auto-win, so most successful telepaths have some form of backup (TK, ninja with knife, supergirl powers, diamond-form).

There’s a reason Stan put Xavier in a wheelchair!

Occasionally there might a really good showing and I think we’ll have to be satisfied with that.

          • Shark

True. It’s either she has a second power set or she gets taken out first in a fight (which also happens fairly often).

I would honestly prefer her to be the type to sit back waiting for a chance to strike while the rest of the team take on the bad guys.
